Streaming Audio to the AudioTron

Why would you want to stream music to the AudioTron. Well in my case it is because I have multiple AudioTron's around my house and I want all of them to play the same music at the same time. I can set them up so they play the same playlist but they are not entirely in sync. By streaming audio to the AudioTron's I can insure that all of them are in sync.

To stream to the AudioTron you need to get the following two programs.

  • WinAmp
  • Shoutcast server

The steps required are:

  1. Install WinAmp
  2. Install the ShoutCast server
  3. Go to TurtleRadio website and create a custom station that points to the IP address for the machine that has WinAmp and Shoutcast. In my case I used the following URL 192.168.100.2:8000. The :8000 is the port used by Shoutcast
  4. Make the AudioTron search for new radio stations so it finds the new custom station.
  5. Start WinAmp, the Shoutcast Server and then select your custom station on the AudioTron. You should now hear whatever is playing via WinAmp

If you want to stream RealAudio streams you can do this by getting a RealPlayer plugin for WinAmp. This plugin will convert the RealAudio stream into a format that WinAmp can play and then the Shoutcast plugin will take the output from WinAmp and convert it into the stream that the AudioTron stream format.

The RealPlayer plugin for Winamp is available at
