Playing the GamePoker Sol is a standard solitaire game also known as "Poker Solitaire", "Poker Squares", and "Poker Patience". ObjectThe object of the game is to place 25 cards in the best order, using standard poker hands such as three of a kind, full house, etc. The better the poker hands created the better the score. Starting the gameThe game begins by taking a pack of 52 cards, shuffling them, and dealing the first 25 cards face up into a pile to become the stock. PlayThe cards in the stock are moved, one at a time, from the stock and placed into a 5x5 grid such that each row and column in the grid forms the best possible poker hand. ScoringPoints are earned for each type of poker hand created. The points per hand are based upon the odds of forming the hands in regular poker. The scoring for each hand is as follows :
StrategyA typical strategy is to try for flushes on each of the first four rows, and full houses, four of a kinds, or straights in the columns. The last row is often used as a dumping place for cards that don't fit elsewhere. This approach often yields several flushes without hurting your chances for higher-scoring hands. Straights are the most difficult hands to create, because they require you to give up a chance for safer hands, such as pairs and thress of a kind. |
